Use Your Podcast to Boost Affiliate Link Income

I love promoting podcasts as a way to provide free but valuable content to your dream clients, but it’s also possible to monetize your podcast with affiliate links right out the gate.

I worked with Freelance Marketer & Influencer Sarah Baus to launch her podcast in August 2020. She had tried previously to start a podcast, but she hadn’t pushed her podcast to a hosting platform with wide distribution. Sarah is an excellent educator and has a unique hosting style, so we wanted to get her voice heard by as many people as possible! I redesigned her cover art to include cohesive branding to the rest of her digital content, sourced music that captured her vibe, and now edit her episodes so they are crisp and professional.

Sarah called me one day with one of her “crazy ideas,” which are actually always great ideas. She said “wouldn’t it be funny if I created ‘non-sponsor’ segments talking about items I love by companies who aren’t even sponsoring me?” I was like “It’d be funny, but better yet, you can use your affiliate links for the products in the show notes and make actual money.”

And thus, Sarah’s Non-Sponsored Segments were born! We pre-recorded four ad segments to rotate out through episode, each segment highlighting a product Sarah loves and has an affiliate link for through RewardStyle. This can be replicated with Amazon affiliate links, or any product or service link for which you receive a commission. It’s important to disclose that you will make a commission for the sale of the product. Listen below to see how we did it!

Moving forward, Novice Studios will continue editing and uploading her podcasts to save Sarah time while keeping her consistent! Read Sarah’s testimonial of her launch below!

“The What Else? podcast would not be a thing if it were not for Kristen at Novice Studios. I cannot rave enough about her expertise, efficiency, production talent, and ability to create a fantastic customer experience. She not only makes it easy to produce my podcast, but she makes it a joyful experience. She goes above and beyond what you expect her to deliver and gives expert advice from a place of experience and a true understanding for your brand. The value that you get for the investment in her services is way more than you could ever imagine. If you are looking for somebody to produce your podcast or video content, you need not to look for anyone else. Novice studios is the only production company I will trust with any of my video and audio content.” - Sarah Baus, Host of the What Else? Podcast
